To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

The Medium Shallow Dish

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (150g) cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 (225g) chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Preparation

  1. Combine tomatoes, tomato paste, olive oil, garlic, oregano, and smoked paprika in the Anyday dish and m thoroughly.
  2. Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Lay the thighs skin-side down on top of the tomato mixture. Cover with the lid (knob lifted).
  3. Cook in the microwave at Power Level 6tooltip for 9-10 minutes.
  4. , or until tomatoes are soft and jammy and chicken is cooked most of the way through.
  5. Meanwhile, preheat your broiler.
  6. Transfer the chicken thighs to a sheet tray, skin side up. Broil for 2-3 minutes (internal note: NO WATTAGE calculation necessary), or until skin is browned and crisp. Keep an eye on it, since it will go fast!
  7. Spoon sauce over chicken to serve.

Serving suggestions & tips

  • Garnish with fresh parsley, chervil, or dill.
  • Add a can of cooked beans for extra heartiness.
  • Add some japaleños for a spicier and brighter alternative.
